So this isn’t diet related, but it’s my blog and I can do what I want. 😉 Anyone who knows me knows that I love my dogs. We have two dogs, but one is my daughter’s and the other is mine. My dog is the cool one. haha We adopted him from the humane society in the summer of 2016. He’d been dumped and was burnt with cigarettes and his ear was sliced open and he was SKINNY! I’ve since fattened him up just a bit. His momma feeds him good.
My Dog Went Missing!
I let him outside this afternoon and when I went to let him back in, I called his name but he never came. Okay, no big deal. I figured he was under the porch. Our landlord built a nice back deck and the dogs like to go under it. I think there’s an opossum or something under it. Yuck!
So, I hop off the porch (yes, hop because the landlord never built a bottom step and I’m short) and call him again. He doesn’t come so I pick up the lead that the dogs are always hooked to so I can start tugging on it to make him come. There’s just one problem. A major problem. The stupid lead snapped in half! There was no dog on the other end.
My dog was missing.
That’s how long it took for the water works to start flowing. I opened the back door and called out to my husband and told him that my dog was gone. After I briefly, through a babbling mess of tears, told him what was going on, he came right outside. We were both calling my dog, but he was nowhere in sight. Finally, my husband told me to go driving around, looking for him and he’d stay here and keep calling our fur baby.
I didn’t even make it inside our van when I called his name one more time and that’s when I saw him! He came running up out of the woods, happy as could be! He’s gotten loose one other time (we still have no idea how that happened), but he stayed in the yard. Our yard is not fenced by the way. I hoped he’d come right up to us, but I know our other dog. My daughter’s dog. That stupid thing (the uncool dog), will run and run and run away from us.
Not my cool dog. He came right up to us and my husband grabbed the broken lead that was still attached to his collar and brought him back inside. I was so relieved. I love my dog! Here he is, safe inside, back home with his humans. I don’t know what I’d do if anything ever happened to him. I’d probably have to check into a mental hospital. There’s just something about him that is very dear to me. He’s protective, yet loving. He’s chill, yet alert. He’s my baby.
