Yep, you read that right! This morning I made low carb French toast (keto style) with cinnamon and sugar. It is so yummy that I can’t even begin to tell you how much it tastes like the real thing. Next time someone tells you that this WOE isn’t healthy or that you’re going to starve to death, remember this picture because even you are going to be shocked.
What goes into low carb French toast?
All keto ingredients. I didn’t have to go on any crazy witch hunt or sacrifice any of the children to get what I needed. There is one ingredient that I consider “special” because I can’t find it at any local stores. Thank goodness this is the 21st century and we have everything online with a click of the mouse.
I went to Amazon and bought low carb bread and this stuff tastes like regular bread. I’m not kidding! No weird consistency or texture, no strange smells and no bitter aftertaste like many low carb products. It’s a bit pricey BUT it’s justified. It is bread on a low carb diet, and you can use it for sandwiches, French toast, grilled cheese and the list goes on. If you have Amazon Prime, you can get free two-day shipping so you have it faster, at no additional charge. If you don’t have it, click the link below to use Amazon Prime for free for 30 days. You can cancel at any time and never be charged a penny for it, yet still get your low carb bread. 🙂
How did I make low carb French toast?
Using HWC and a couple of eggs, some cinnamon and Splenda granulated artificial sweetener, I whisked it all together and coated my bread. I’m telling you guys, it was super easy! And guess what?
While I was in the fridge rummaging for the eggs, I found a container of strawberries that I’d hidden from the kids. I know you shouldn’t hide food from the kids but they will demolish it. Last week, I paid $9 for a bag of grapes. I know, I know. They were ridiculously high but we haven’t had them in forever. And to be fair, when I saw the $3.50, I thought it was for the bag, not by the pound. Oh well. Anyway, the kids ate through the entire bag in two afternoon snack sessions right after school. So, yes, I hid the strawberries so we could enjoy a few.
What’s the damage?
Including my strawberries (2 of them thinly sliced) with whipped cream, my entire meal with THREE pieces of French toast was 327 calories and 9 net carbs. Normally, I wouldn’t consume this many carbs in one meal but I’m still doing IF so since I’m only eating two meals per day, I can split my carbs if you will. And again, I also had a 1/4 cup of strawberries plus two tablespoons of whipped topping to go with said strawberries.
